Front Projectors
Front projection systems are for very high-end installations. Projectors work with a very carefully designed system and give you a true home theater. The front projection system gives you the ability to do a true cinema-scope that is the same widescreen format displayed at the movie theater (2.35:1.) When using a front projection screen, you will not see any black bars at the top and bottom of your screen and you will see about a third more of the picture.

Front Projectors for Any Room
With improved technology, front projectors can now be installed in living areas that allow some ambient light. Formerly, these could only be installed in dedicated media rooms where all of the lights could be turned low in order to see the picture clearly. Now, technology has improved so that the screens and projectors can be viewed in a lit room that’s not too bright.
Front Projector Screens
The size of a front projection screen can go upwards of 300” and beyond for residential homes. Typically, home theatres have screens around 120”. We can also install a motorized screen so that you can roll it up to hide when you’re finished with your program.

The front projection systems have gotten smaller and brighter over the past several years. The improving technology has made the projectors virtually silent as the fan puts out a very quiet whisper. Finding the Right Projector and the Right Screen
A poorly designed home theater system can cause many problems. It’s important to match the right projector with the right screen so that you have the correct balance and light output. This will give you best picture and the best viewing experience. Independence Audio Video will help you select your projector and screen so that you’re happy with your home theatre electronics. Upon your initial in-home consultation, we use a light measuring device to gauge the light in your room. We then figure the amount of light that will be on your screen, and recommend the best screen and projector for your home theater based on the amount of light in your room. We measure your room to calibrate the system and give recommendations for your optimal picture quality.
You can experience several problems if you buy your own front projection screen and projector from a big box store, and you are not guaranteed to have the optimal picture. Our staff is highly trained and can put together an individualized system for you; something no other electronics store in Kansas City can do. Some problems you may experience if you buy a projector and screen “off of the shelf” from a big box store include:
- Hot-spotting – you get a very bright washed out picture in the middle of the screen, the picture will be darker on the edges.
- Angle distortion if the projector and screen sit in the wrong spot.
- A dim picture for people not sitting right in front of the screen.
- You can have a poor color contrast–a dim picture that’s not bright.
- Streaks can appear in the image.
- Uniformity issues.
